GIANNA NANNINI


She was born in Siena on 14th June, 1956.
Gianna Nannini is an Italian female singer-songwriter and rock musician.
When she was 19 years old she left the family and she went to live in Milan. She studied music at the conservatory. In Milan she played in many night club where she was observed by “Dischi Ricordi” that published her first album.
In 1979 she published her first album “California”, this rock record together with the single “America” is a narcissistic American dream that gave her a great success in Germany and North Europe in 1980. In 1981 she met the international manager Peter Zumsteg, with him she produced her tag Gienne. They worked together for twenty-three years. She composed the soundtrack of the film “Sconcerto rock” of Luciano Mannuzzi, produced by B. Bertolucci.
In 1982 she produced “Latin Lover” with Conny Planc. This was her fifth album. She won the golden disc in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In October Gianna sang in the Legendary Rockplast in Essen. In 1984 the song “Fotoromanza”, the videoclip of which was produced by Michelangelo Antonioni, won the Festivalbar. It was the leit-motiv of that summer. She began to sing around Europe and that year in Italy she produced her first cd live “Tuttolive”.
In 1986 she sold one million copies of her new album “Profumo”. The success continued with the publication of “Maschi and Altri”. In 1988 she produced “Malafemmina” together with Alan Moulder.
Finally in 1990 in Italy in occasion of the world championship she sang "Un'estate italiana", the official song of the Football World Cup 1990, together with Edoardo Bennato.
In 1990 she produced “Scandalo”, her video was called “Giannissima”. In 1993 she produced her new album “X Forza X Amore”, a radical folk. Inside it we find Tuscany sound; in Torino she celebrated the 2000 with 500.000 people. In 2001 she went to live in Catania where she worked with punk people and the writer Isabella Santacroce; she produced “Aria”, a mix of melodic-rock and contemporary electronic pop-rock. In 2004 she produced “Perle” and “ Amandoti”.
In 2007 she produced the great “Pia”; it was a modern lyric opera, based on the medieval Tuscan character Pia de' Tolomei (mentioned briefly in Dante's Inferno). Wil Malone produced this record. David Zard was the director. Gianna was the interpreter of all the characters.
Between the 2007 and 2008 she produced “Giannabest”, where she sang the most successful songs of her career.
She has sung in every Italian palasport, in every European theatres. In London she song at the Sheperd’s Bush Empire. In 2008 she produced “Colpo di Fulmine”; Lola Ponce and Giò di Tonno sang this song and won Sanremo Italian Song Festival.
In 2009 she produced “Giannadream” with the collaboration of Wil Malone. In this album her rock became a melodic symphony.
Her latest work is the song “Salvami”, feat. Giorgia, another Italian singer with an amazing voice. Listen to it!!!
